  1. A new vowel signal was spotted in hopes of finding the missing ARA San Juan submarine in November.
  2. The Argentine Navy said the search for the missing ARA San Juan submarine had detected a new hydrothermal signal in the southern Atlantic, AFP news agency reported on Dec. 24.
  3. The Russian Panther Plus unmanned spacecraft was brought to this area for review, while the US oceanographic research vessel Atlantis continued to scrutinize the search area.
  4. The ARA San Juan, with 44 sailors out of touch on the Atlantic on Nov. 15, moved from Ushuaia to Mar del Plata. Argentina endorsed last month to give up the hope of survivors and focus only on finding the ship. There are 13 countries involved in the search for missing submarines.
  5. Argentine troops believe an explosion caused the ARA San Juan to sink. The submarine was reported to have been short circuited for about 10 hours before the explosion. Argentina had detected some aquascaping signals, but from fishing ships that had been wrecked years earlier.
  6. Argentine Navy Commander Marcelo Srur was sacked earlier this month in the investigation into the missing of the ARA submarine San Juan.
