  1. A US woman allegedly exchanged $ 85,000 for Bitcoin and other virtual currencies to support IS.
  2. Zoobia Shahnaz, 27, a US citizen, was indicted in federal court in Central Islip, New York, Dec. 14. She allegedly scam, conspiracy to launder money and other three counts of money laundering related charges, RT led the announcement from the US Department of Justice said.
  3. According to the indictment, Shahnaz has deceived financial institutions, earning more than $ 85,000. Changed the money to Bitcoin and some other virtual currency to move abroad, launder money and then fund the Islamic State (IS). Shahnaz faces up to 90 years in jail if convicted.
  4. Shahnaz was arrested on Dec. 13 at John F. Kennedy International Airport, attempting to leave the US to Islamabad, Pakistan, but could not answer questions from security forces.
  5. According to the US Department of Justice, Shahnaz investigated ISs, recruits, financial managers of rebel groups via the Internet. She also intended to "go to Syria and join the IS".
  6. Shahnaz's plan included stopping in Istanbul, Turkey, for a few days. Prosecutors described Istanbul as a "universal gateway" for people from Western countries who wanted to join the IS.
