Disney and Lucasfilm announced Monday that the next chapter in  
the saga for the space opera will be "Star Wars - The Last Jedi"

The film stars Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, John  
Boyega, Lupita Nyong'o, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson,   
Gwendoline Christie, Anthony Daniels and Andy Serkis. The cast  
includes the late Carrie Fisher, on December 27, the actress who  
played Princess Leia Organa died, had wrapped shooting before  
her death. Lucasfilm said earlier this month that it will not  
digitally recreate Fisher in these upcoming films. Leia was  
originally scheduled to appear in the ninth movie, which begins  
filming in 2018.

Laura Dern, Benicio Del Toro and Kelly Marie Tran also appears  
in "The Last Jedi."

Johnson said in a recent interview that the epic motives of the  
hero trio will examine - Rey, Finn and Poe - Rey and connection  
with Luke.

"I wanted to know more about each of them and that means not  
only information and backstory," Johnson told USA Today. "Find  
out what is the hardest thing that now each of them could be  
challenged with - let's throw adversity at them and dig into  
what really drives them to see how they react."

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" will be in theaters December 15,  
2017.
