Today I was in the garden here just kind of looking around and pulling some weeds here and there.  I pulled away some grass runners where I had planted some Oxalis tuberosa the past year and several tubers became uncovered!  I'm glad they survived their first winter here well and even spread.  Last year they were not in optimal positions being a little too shaded out from the sun and competing with other plants nearby but they still grew.  I took these two tubers out to give to a friend but replanted all the rest.  Just thought I'd show you guys:



There's a couple other interesting Andean root crops along the same lines as Oca that are starting to become available in the USA now too.  They grow in temperate areas well and are productive and edible.  Check them out here.

I've been meaning to grow these ever since I saw them in a grocery store and cooked them. They are absolutely delicious and supposedly would do well here, but with how expensive starts are I haven't chanced it. Maybe in a few years when reasonably priced starts are available. I should have planted some from the supermarket. :shakefist:
