I found a local restaurant that accepts bitcoin and went there last night. When the waitress brought the receipt, I asked if I could pay with bitcoin. I was super excited when they said yeah because I've really been wanting to try it out. I opened the coinbase app, scanned the qr code, and then sent along the total with a tip included. The transaction displayed as pending. 30 minutes later the transaction still hadn't showed up on blockchain.info at the merchants address. The coinbase UI showed the TX as pending and within 30 minutes the TX disappeared from the app. I assumed it was straight up canceled at that point. I ended up paying with my visa. Then this morning I look at the blockchain and see that it finally went through. So now I have double paid and need to get them to send it back. This was so frustrating because I was excited and it sort of blew up in my face. It was so unusual because any transaction I have made in the past seems to get sent through with 2 minutes. I'm assuming this is a coinbase issue, so, to mitigate this, I'll only be spending out of my Android wallet.
