Banaue Rice Terraces Another World Heritage Site in the Philippines is Banaue Rice Terraces in Ifugao, Philippines. They also call it the Ifugao Rice Terraces or in their Filipino language, Hagdan-hagdang Palayan ng Banawe (rough translation: Steps of Rice in Banawe). One of the things to do in Philippines is to climb these terraces – it would be challenge! If you ask the Ifugao people, these terraces have been there for more than 2,000 years and it was built by their “ancestors” using their bare hands. These steps are 5,000 feet in height, above sea level. It is considered a National Cultural Treasure of the country.
