NORFOLK — One day after the latest snow emergency was lifted in Norfolk, another snow emergency has been declared. According to the city of Norfolk, a snow emergency will go into effect at 5 p.m. Thursday evenings until further notice. Dead ends and snow rescue routes generally do not prohibit parking. On residential streets, parking is only allowed on the straight side of the street; however, residents are strongly encouraged to park on the curb whenever possible. People whose vehicles are parked on odd sides of streets and in dead-end streets will be warned if a snow emergency occurs. Cars parked on emergency snow lanes will be towed. Residents are also reminded not to blow snow onto streets. Violators may be fined and required to have designated snow removal services refrain from pushing snow onto streets. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Madison County starting at 3 p.m. Thursday-Friday 9:00 p.m. Snowfall amounts of between 12 and 20cm are expected and wind gusts could reach 56km/h.
