Sounds pretty gay but I gotta share my thoughts on my topic since MrSpeedrun is extremely influential in this community and it isn't in a good way. A big reason I opened this discussion was because I was tired of all the offhand jokes and comments both parties had towards each other. I'm a super blunt guy so if I have a thought I'll usually say it. So when I say "both parties", I'm referring to MrSpeedrun (including his mods and regular viewers) and most active 120 star runners (basically the SM64 "community"). This basically all started when MrSpeedrun began to run SM64 seriously. He started running 120 star on emulator while I was still a 70 runner on emulator. I'm not certain what transpired before he switched to N64, as I wasn't too involved in the community. All I know is that we switched to N64 at virtually the same time (MrSpeedrun switched first but I followed only a few weeks later) and I believe this is when a lot of the nonsense began. MrSpeedrun had begun saying that he would eventually take the 120 world record. This was fine and all, but he was saying he would do it within a certain time frame. This time frame was obviously practically impossible, and the community had picked up on his statements and started creating memes out of it. This is where I, personally, get confused. MrSpeedrun continue making claims that the world record was unoptimised and beatable, and that he could beat it. It was around this time as well that he began belittling other runners on his stream, claiming that if he made a mistake it was a (runner) mistake. As an example he would make a mistake and claim it was a "bounceyboy mistake" or "peterford mistake". I had personally experienced this as I watched his stream at the time. Top runners by this point had all shared their opinions on MrSpeedrun, which included the top 2 120 RTA runners Cheese and Puncay. This angered MrSpeedrun greatly and he began ranting about different people in his stream in front of casual viewers (who believed he was a credible runner). Before I talk about the events that came after the rants that MrSpeedrun went on, I'll explain some more about the lead up of the big change in the SM64 community as a whole. A big argument that a lot of runners would make was that MrSpeedrun would have his overall time spent playing SM64 on his splits. This included all practice and runs. This number was extremely high, which led to most of the top tier runners believing that he was slow at improving. I also believed this, and also knew that it wasn't a bad thing at all. It was simply a fact. I brought it up in his stream one day, not as an insult but to try to bring it to his attention that many people felt this way (including myself) and that he should be aware of the fact that he was improving slowly. I didn't intend for it to be an insult, but he took it as such, and began ranting about how nobody but him had proof that they improved faster than he did. I tried to give him actual real proof but he shot it down and denied it, claiming that the only way to prove that we have less hours than him is to have the total playtime on splits like he does. There are plenty of cases where MrSpeedrun has said something controversial, and a big problem is that some casual viewers listen to it and eat it up. This causes a huge influx of stream monsters in smaller chats who genuinely believe that MrSpeedrun is a top tier speedrunner of this game, and also believe that the world record is completely unoptimised and beatable. I have pretty much explained the events that led up to current drama, now onto a new issue. MrSpeedrun began becoming more and more hostile towards Puncay and Cheese, which eventually led up to a long rant which included MrSpeedrun insulting Puncay's appearance and also encouraging his viewers to attack Puncay in his own chat and try to get banned. I personally reported MrSpeedrun for this, with the evidence shown in this clip: https://streamable.com/qzk1w This pretty much summed up the entire rant nicely and became overall proof of how toxic MrSpeedrun can be, especially towards those that are critical of him as a streamer. This led to his swift ban on twitch for 24 hours. Some time passed and Puncay posted a screenshot of MrSpeedrun calling Cheese toxic, which led to me addressing the entirety of the MrSpeedrun drama as a whole in the discord. And what came of it? Absolutely nothing. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is the part where I share some personal opinions on the matter. I have already discussed this on stream but I want this to be public so everyone will know my opinions. Let me just say that I came to the conclusion that MrSpeedrun suffers from some sort of mental disorder. I believe it may some sort of delusional mania brought on by some sort of condition he may have. From the start I knew he was going to be like this. We both switched to N64 at the same time but my skill far surpassed his in practically no time. There was no competition. This is one of the reasons I was first led to believe he improved slow, since I didn't spend nearly as much time as he did playing the game. By the time I had PB'd and got a 1:48, he was still stuck in the mid 1:50s. He had brought up that I had PB'd one time and I told him yeah I did, but it was sort of a bittersweet PB since I can get such a better PB fairly easily. He scoffed and told me that if I say I can do it, then I should show that I can by doing it. This was obviously a stupid thing to say considering he had been claiming he was going to 1:39 for a long time. I pointed it out but was just banned from his chat. I had sort of left him alone, save a few laughs with other runners when discussing the shit he would spout on stream. I was then linked a timestamp from one of his VODs of him insulting Puncay and encouraging his viewers to try and get banned from his stream. I was kind of disgusted so I ended up reporting him. To be completely honest I enjoyed every second of reporting him. He got what he deserved later with a 24 hour ban and it was great. We all laughed about it. Right now in this current moment I am getting tired of all this drama, I am also annoyed that this all led to MrSpeedrun getting partnered on twitch. His stream is a negative and toxic environment as opposed to better streamers such as Heisen, Taggo and Deza. I honestly tried to see things through MrSpeedrun's perspective but he would just call me dumb and ignorant and would not explain what he thought on certain subjects. I'm surprised if anyone read to the end, I'm really drunk but I had to share my thoughts in one go rather than small back and forth chat messages in discord.
