Betty’s Hope Betty’s Hope used to be a sugar plantation back when it was founded in 1650.The whole property was owned by the Codrington family from 1674 up to 1944. With that, it was named Betty’s Hope after the name of the daughter’s owner back then. Today, the sugar cane plantation is not operating anymore. It is being utilized as an open air museum with two windmills, a boiling house, an estate house which is still in ruins, a cistern complex, and a still house which is a distillery house that also needs to be renovated.
