Confirmation Bias is one of the most limiting fundamentals of the human ego. Everyone does it, but you can catch yourself doing it and stop it. Younger teenagers are the WORST about this because they get to the age where they think they 'know everything' and 'everybody else is wrong' Always try to understand the other side of the argument, story, topic, issue, etc, don't try to shove the other side as wrong or incorrect too quickly just because someone doesn't agree with you, as it will develop a subconscious bias in the back of your brain. You will start to develop emotional ties and value them over factual or evident proof. I really think they should implement a REQUIRED low level psychology course for entry-level high school students that spends decent time on confirmation bias and how dangerous it can actually be. It can literally stunt people's mental growth and keep people close-minded on very important issues.
