adding a customer to directories


Having difficulty adding businesses to directories. I can jump over the usual roadblocks they put in our way. My problem is with so many customers, if I use the customers telephone numbers and email addresses it becomes a nightmare communicating with them to get what I need. If I setup a email account for them I still will need the validation code that the directory sends them. 

The importance having their correct telephone number listed and other information is the purpose of listing in the first place.

So how do I setup many email accounts without communicating with the customer which I am sure you all have found their lack of understanding.

It's been a while since I did this, but even back then, when I was submitting client's sites to business directories, it was for the links and any residual traffic they may get, not telephone calls or email contact with/for the client. 

However, in your case, I suspect you are referring to local business directories, in which case, you may have to adopt a two-step-process. For those clients with email addresses to be used for contact on the sites, you will probably have to submit the client info and include your email address just to get the auth code. That said, when you get the code, confirm the listing. Then, a bit later, edit the profile with the proper email address.

IMO, trying to get customers to watch for emails and eventually send to you the validation code, much less understand the process and why, may be a more difficult task to accomplish.
