- CROATIA & SLOVENIA FRIDAY UPDATE (15:00) - Croatia announced that is no longer capable of registering refugees and stopped taking them to reception centers, as approx. 15 000 entered the country in two days. This pracitacally mean free movement of refugees around the country. They will most probably got stuck on railway stations and border crossings to Slovenia and Hungary. - Slovenia is ready to accept refugees on border crossing and accept them to reception centers, but their capacity is only approx. 5000 people. Slovenia wants to follow the rules (Dublin etc), but local NGOs already speculates that this won't be sustainable over the few days with number of refugees on the way. But at this moment, Slovenia tries to register all of them. - Refugees in Croatia are concentrated on several places at the moment, while hundreds on the way between the places. Intl. trains to Slovenia and Western Europe suspended. - TOVARNIK, train station and whole village: Still refugees coming from Serbia, have to walk 4 km under the hot sun. CZ, AT, DE Volunteers already have established facilities, and trying hard to deliver water. If heading to Tovarnik, please bring water as is urgently needed, or also money to buy more water locally. Local volunteers are almost out of money and will use your help. - BELI MONASTIR - town center, train statin: Several thousands refugees here, help is coordinated by Red Cross and all all volunteers are asked to cooperate with Red Cross, as they insist on official cooperation on the level of NGOs and not on individual level. Please be prepared, that this requirements could apply also elsewhere in Croatia and so your help will be more complicate to provide! Phone numbers to Croatian red cross in Beli Manastir +385 983 29 135, +385 31 703 422 - use only when necessary. - Border crossing HU/CR BEREMEND / BARJANSKO PETROVO SELO - several buses from Beli Manastir with refugees has been transported here, Hungary reject them. This border crossing also may be closed soon so avoid it. Nearby Udvar is still open. No help and no volunteers apparently here and people stuck in the fields under the sharp sun. - BEZDAN/BATINA - approx, 200 refugees stucked on the bridge over Danube, can't continue to Croatia. If you are in the area, try to help with food and maybe tents and sleeping bags, if they will spend another night here. Serbian red cross reports of their help, so most probably try to approach refugees from Serbian side Bezdan, approach from Croatian side could be restricted by police. - HORGOS, Serbia/Hungaria border - still cca 300 refugees on site, families with children up to 18 years are accepted by Hungarian officers to apply for asylum. 6 CZ and HU volunteers there, cleaning the site and collecting materials to reuse. - Other places in CROATIA where refugees are starting to appear in larger numbers: OSIJEK train station and ZAGREB train station. - SLOVENIA: First refugees has been seen at these border crossing with Croatia: BREGANA, HARMICA, MACELJ, OBREZJE. Slovenian police is trying to register them and move to reception camps. Some refugees has been seen crossing border freely early in the day. If Slovenian police will try to stop them at the border, they will get stuck the same way like we have seen in Tovarnik and other places. - Serbia/Croatia border crossings are closed for traffic except Batrovci/Bajakovo highway crossing, but long queues there. Use way via Hungary. - When travelling to Croatia now, please bring water with you, as weather is really hot (35+), and bring money to buy water and food locally. - If travelling to Croatia, avoid Serbia and be prepared for hot weather during the day. Take reflexion vest, headlight, good shoes and be prepared for harsh conditions and chaos - and note, that only you are responsible of your personal safety. - Thank you!
