Venezuela SC blocks attempt to free Prez critics

Venezuela's Supreme Court has blocked a legislation cleared by the Opposition-controlled Congress to free jailed politicians who are against President Nicolás Maduro's government. Maduro had earlier criticised the legislation, claiming it was an attempt to destabilise his rule. The Opposition had promised to make releasing political prisoners a priority during their election campaign.
