MAYTAG WASHER/DRYER HACK CODES
 
If you are at all like me, you HATE paying for laundry at your apartment. Here is the way to get past that without stealing the quarters back out of the machine.
 
1. Use the pry end of a hammer or a screwdriver to pry on the service door located at the top above where you pay. It will have a tubular key insert on it. When you pry on this (don't break the lock) the door will register as being open, which sets the washer/dryer to service mode.
 
One of two things will happen.
       
        "DAS" will appear on the screen. Press the rightmost button  once. Then continuously press the
                leftmost button to select the amount of time in minutes for your cycle. Release pressure on the
                service door. Cycle will start.
                       
                        **This is what you will find all over online. This did not work for me. I had to trial/error
                        my way through figuring out codes. The steps are below.
 
        If "DAS" does NOT appear, and instead it shows a bunch of numbers, do not fret. While prying the service door,  
                press the middle button once. This should take you to the code "6.xx" (x being variable). Remember
                this number, you will need it later to set the price back to normal. Use the leftmost button to cycle
                through the "xx" numbers until you get back to "6.00". (There will be a total of 40 numbers) This sets
                the price per cycle down to $0.00. Release pressure on service door and select cycle of choice.
 
                        **For the Washer, be sure to use the LOWER set of three buttons. directions are the same for    
                        both though.
 
                        **DON'T FORGET TO CHANGE THE "6.00" BACK TO THE NUMBER YOU MEMORIZED BEFORE YOU CHANGED THE
                        PRICE. YOU WILL BE CAUGHT OTHERWISE**
