Changing Providers I am ready to change my upstream provider. I'm not here to bash them so it doesn't matter who they are. ++++++++++++++ If You want to buy cheap web hosting then visit http://listtop.pw and select the cheapest hosting. it can be suitable for all your needs. But they are a reseller and do not keep their own servers. At one point several years ago before I decided to use VPS my sites were down literally for days while the servers from the data center were literally loaded onto trucks and moved physically across the country. Talk about a bad choice. I stuck it out because they promised it would get better. Then they found another provider to sell through who had better plans, so then they are coercing their clients to move with them, they made changes on our accounts and took things away we had all along. They lost some customers but I stuck with them. Recently they moved again, and now I can't get the same service and addons for my server I could before they moved. So I'm done. I contacted a provider I have used before about their servers and they were very good I recall. They own their servers that they run in data centers and they are a sizeable company with better prices than my current provider. But the prices are not too low that I have to worry about they closing any time soon. I'm waiting to hear back from them and once I am satisfied I will order another VPS to move domains to. I think it will be quite a job moving a whole server with client sites and I hope I do it all correctly. I am hoping that by the end of this month to have everything cleaned off my current servers and moved to a new one. I'm going to order a larger one than I have had also. This new provider also offers 8 IP's with their smallest VPS. With the provider I have now trying to get IP's was like yanking teeth. It's been a struggle with them for a long time and even though I am very patient, sometimes it's simply time to move on. I remember when I hosted a VPS with them in the past their security was superior to other VPS solutions I've used, so I was very impressed because of that and other things they do. They are also a domain registrar now too and even though I resell domain names already, my wholesale cost is higher than what this new provider charges, I can save a substantial amount by buying domains from them instead. So this seems like a no brainer. Since I use cPanel I see that I can transfer sites in WHM once the new server I ordered becomes available. I just have to configure domains and DNS. I know you said you don't want to bash your current provider, however please do let us know how the transfer goes and also once you are happy with the new provider - let us know who they are so it may help others. Also does your new provider offer a managed service - will they help you out with the migration? Also does your new provider offer a managed service - will they help you out with the migration? The new provider is one I have used in the past and they offer a free managed service. As far as the transfer WHM should handle moving all the domains from what I have been reading. This is the beauty of using cPanel. Everything went good setting up the new server. This is better than what I had, far more space for not much more money and I have several IP's. I needed more IP's since even though I offer shared hosting I need my own domains IP based for email and other reasons. I'm working on getting the server fully configured but WHM and cPanel make it easy. It just takes time. I'm working on DNS mostly right now since I don't recall fully how I set the last server up, but fortunately I can simply log into the old server and take a peek. I noticed that my past provider uses http for WHM and cPanel, the new provider uses https which makes a lot more sense. Sounds like everything is working out well for you. I'm surprised you stuck with your old provider for so long. Sounds like everything is working out well for you. I'm surprised you stuck with your old provider for so long. I would love to reveal my present provider but have been hesitant to do so because I thought, what IF I decide to offer VPS also? It would serve as a professional conflict to send you to a provider who could take my business away. From a different post: Dang, I can't find the 8 thumbs up image.
