the state is so powerful any insurrection will be put down unless the people are armed. these days this isn’t feasible. instead of conventional weapons, we would have to use our minds in some other way. the poor have little free time because they are too busy working hard to feed and maintain the lifestyles of the rich. the rich aren’t necessarily evil overlords (complexity doesn’t necessarily imply agency). but they don’t have an incentive to foment change because they live in decadence and are amused by various entertainments. however, somewhere in the middle, there are people who have experienced the very bottom and top of society. since they are not struggling to eat, they can sow the seeds of change. insurrection is out of the question. the method by which this middle class can foment change would be through freely expressing their ideas.
