The X Comfort Air chair is "designed to keep gamers cool in the heat of battle

It's very easy to spend a lot of money on a gaming rig, but peripheral manufacturers will also happily take more of your cash for accessories with gimmicks. And it seems those gimmicks now extend to the chair you sit on as Thermaltake decided to add an active cooling system to its latest gaming chair.

Thermaltake claims the X Comfort Air is the world's first air cooling professional gaming chair. It uses "state-of-the-art air-cooling design tech with optimized aerodynamics." What that equates to is four five-blade fans mounted in the base of the chair designed to run for 75,000 hours. You won't feel the fans as they are positioned underneath a breathable mesh and PVC leather.

The fans direct air up your body aiming to keep you cool while gaming, or during any other intense activity carried out at a computer. A three-button controller allows the fans to be turned on or off and adjusted between three speeds of 1,530rpm, 3,600rpm, and the maximum 5,100rpm.

The X Comfort Air builds on Thermaltake's existing range of chairs in the Comfort line. So you'll get four-directional armrests, 160-degrees of back adjustment, a class-four piston for seat height adjustment, and a five-star aluminum base and three-inch caster wheels. Also bear in mind this chair requires cables for power, which is not something you usually have to think about when rolling a chair around.

Available in black or black red, the X Comfort Air costs $499.99. You'll need its fans running on their highest setting after you sit down for the first time and realize just how much you spent on the chair.
