Not many of us can imagine what it must be like to be told you have cancer, never mind it being Stage 4 and incurable. Anna has had a rollercoaster year, with chemotherapy every 3 weeks, and sadly her latest scans show that the treatment is no longer working and the cancer is growing. This is Anna's story:

In April 2016 she was diagnosed with a Stage 4 incurable lung cancer (primary enteric adenocarcinoma). The hardest thing for her to do was to tell her family and friends and share the grief, which is why until now many of you did not know her situation. Those who did know have been there to support her every step of the way through the scariest and worst time of her life. Every three weeks Anna visits The Royal Marsden Cancer Clinic and has chemotherapy. She has been doing this for the last 8 months. A pretty grueling regime, but this is Anna we are talking about, and unsurprisingly she has completely amazed all of us, taking it all in her stride with that big beaming smile on her face. Sadly, her latest scans have shown that the chemotherapy is no longer working and the cancer is growing! For all of you who know Anna like we do, she is a fighter and it is no different now!!! She refuses to give up and believes that she can defy the odds and beat this horrible disease...but she can't do it on her own. Anna is already an inspiration to so many people (which she really doesn’t like to hear) and she isn't ready to give up yet. She has a mission, a mission to raise money. She has set herself a number of challenges already this year starting with a Dryathlon for January and February, as well as some other exciting events, such as; My Marsden March, Ben Nevis, Ironman 70.3 (Barcelona) and a Parachute Jump to name a few. The money she raises will be split between three very worthy causes: Teenage Cancer Trust Around seven young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. They need expert treatment and support from the moment they hear the word ‘cancer.’ Teenage Cancer Trust is dedicated to making this happen. Cancer Research at The Royal Marsden In partnership with The Institute of Cancer Research, The Royal Marsden uses molecular pathology, cancer imaging and clinical trials to develop scientific findings into new cancer therapies. And finally, Fund the Fight
This part is about Anna. The chemotherapy isn't working and we want to raise money to send her to an alternative Cancer clinic in Spain. They have had excellent results with patients who have had little success with conventional medicine. So here's where you come in... ...you watched the video and read the story, but what can you do to help. You could get involved with Anna and her family and friends in the challenges they have planned so far. You could do a challenge yourself, donate your time to the cause . Anything you can do would mean the world to Anna and all the people who love her. Follow her adventures Instagram: @fundthefight and Facebook: anna.irwin.965 Thank you!
