Depends a lot on how you develop your system and how routes are made by default.
If you create the site from scratch is up to you but try to stay homogeneous
But if you use a CMS like Wordpress by default you use:
Without slash for root domain: https://example.com
With slash for subfolders: https://example.com/abc/
