Police are treating the death of 42-year-old Donna Louise Steele, who was found dead in bushland north of Cooktown on Sunday, as murder. Authorities are 'confident' that Ms Steele was killed by 'someone she knew', reported on Monday. Police believe that 42-year-old mother Donna Louise Steel was killed by somebody she knew According to , a dive squad is expected to search Isabella Creek near Endeavour River this week for more evidence, and specialist police from Brisbane are attending the scene. Detective Inspector Geoff Marsh said the lack of CCTV cameras in the town was an 'investigative block'. 'Even at the store, [CCTV] was within the store, there's nothing in the streets,' he said.  Ms Steele was seen at a caravan park on Tuesday and then a local supermarket on Wednesday Ms Steele was last seen at a Cooktown supermarket on Wednesday, having been spotted the day before at a local caravan park. Her friend Kath Pennell told the remote community is in shock. 'I am so devastated that I can barely speak. I will say she was a beautiful mother and friend,' she said. 'She loved her children so much. I can't believe someone has done this to her.' Detective Inspector Marsh told the paper several crime scenes had been established at the crossing and other sites around Cooktown. Ms Steele's two sons, aged 10 and 8, are currently being cared for by their father.
