A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after an assault in Colchester.

Essex Police were called to reports that someone had been assaulted in Ferdinand Walk, Colchester at around 10.05am on Saturday.

Reports also suggested that someone had been damaging cars in the residential street.

Officers attended and found a man with a serious laceration to his face. The victim was rushed to hospital for treatment by paramedics.

A search of the immediate area was then conducted by police officers.
One witness, who was passing near the time of the assault, said part of the area was taped off whilst police investigated near to the scene.

Officers later searched an address in Conifer Close, Colchester, as part of the investigations.
