That all depends on what kind of ant it is. Carpenter, pavement, other?

im THINKING there argentine ants since there the most common house hold ants and the pots are on a sunny window sill inside. And once again there seedlings so there saran wraped up for humidity. Iv read they like moist areas

Ok, I do pest control here in New England but, we dont have these ants in our area.

Any chance you can get a good picture of the ants?

It seems these are an very tough ant to kill. Pesticides are not very good at it. I found one article that suggests changing the chemical "scent" on the exoskeletons of these ants so that other males will attack them like they were the enemy. This does you no good tho.

You can spray the ants you see with a mixture of 40 percent water, 40 percent alcohol and 20 percent dish soap in a spray bottle.
Use food-grade diatomaceous earth (available at feed stores) or talcum powder, medicated body powder, baking soda, salt, garlic powder or Comet cleaner. A light layer of these materials works better than a heavy layer. Damp coffee grounds will also repel some ants.
Along with treating these areas you should use some homemade baits. Ant baits should be made by first finding their preferred food source (creamy peanut butter, shortening, sugar water, moist cat food, honey, jelly) and then lightly mixing in a small amount of borax or boric acid (about 2 percent); or food-grade diatomaceous earth (about 5 percent). Aspartame (Equal or NutraSweet) is also an effective ant bait that can be mixed half-and-half with sugar.


You could also use this stuff if you can buy it, We use it in our business and it does work for what we use it for in our area, EcoEXEMPT IC, Its all natural and you might be able to make a blend of it yourself. Look it up.
