A Cloudflare outage is impacting sites everywhere
It appears that there has been an outage at Cloudflare. It seems that things are back and running according to this:

I ran into a few long waits this morning, more than one site. This helps explain that, I had defaulted to blaming my ISP.
Is that what that was? I was on the South China Morning Post site scmp.com and it went out for about 15 minutes, everything dead.
“Massive spike in CPU usage caused primary and backup systems to fall over. Impacted all services. No evidence yet attack related. Shut down service responsible for CPU spike and traffic back to normal levels. Digging in to root cause.”
I see cloudflare error pages all the time, even if I've already just looked at 2-3 pages of a website. 

You REALLY need to evaluate if you need a CDN before adding another failure point to your site. Chances are only a tiny ercentage of your traffic comes from a country other than the one with your server in it. Cloudflare offers other benefits but it will also cost you some real visitors. Make sure the benefit is worth it.
Never used one. Have no intention of using one ... unless I am getting 10m hits per day. :)

This. Some are obsessed by CDN, but in real life situation most of "us" do no get any significant benefits, only issues. 

As said, you often get your traffic from a given part of the World, get your server hosted there and all will be fine. 

Considering how this is difficult to achieve good ranking at G in "different" countries, this is not because one will use a CDN that it will help. 

Finally, a good web host, will have good peering with major countries, and so a good speed even if a fraction of visitors are coming from another continent .
