The best I could come up with, and it's a pretty absurd answer, is the individual ego separates the collection of us. That is, if you are a "team player " and all. If you don't mind the mental distancing then there really is no problem. -------------------- Post Extras: Print Post Remind Me! It can lead to psychological blind spots, carelessness due to over confidence, stagnation from not feeling a need to improve, and it can be a turn off to those around you who might've proved important allies in accomplishing your objectives. I guess whatever you think in your head is fine if you can keep it to yourself and avoid those pitfalls, but for me trying to keep ego in check seems prudent. -------------------- Tiger got to hunt, bird got to fly; Man got to sit and wonder, 'Why, why, why?' What is the justification for this? I think the justification is the experience of transpersonal states of consciousness. The ego has to die, in a manner of speaking, in order to experience states of being beyond the ego. Then the ego is reborn as the state wears off. Ego death and rebirth is a part of enlightenment. I wouldn't say there is a problem with having an ego. Not at all. It's just that there is more to us than that.
