With the implementation of the K to 12 Program, high school students seem to be more pressured in deciding what career they’ll choose, what job they really want to engage with after school, in which way they want to go. In making their decisions, it may be their parents or guardians’ choices, or their decisions out of peer pressure, or according to their wants, or maybe decision out of nowhere, only to have something to school in. As the young part of every Junior High School students slowly vanish away from them, and the SHS (Senior High School) school year is fast approaching, their decisions in what career they’ll take up will surely play a big role in their future life. That one choice, once measured improperly, could discard, or consume 50% of a man’s remaining time on Earth. Then how can a high school student facing such kind of dilemma find his/her way out? The foremost step would be to know the best of you. Who are you? Examine your personality – your likes and dislikes, your hobbies and your passion, your strengths and weaknesses, your social image and your physical appearance, your attitude towards things concerning yourself, others, or anything else. Have time for self-assessment, as well as for career exploration. Consulting your peers and family, even school counselors or teachers, or anyone else can help you. Focus more on what you love and what you want because the secret to happiness and success is being able to love whatever you do in life. Consider the question, “What if you have a job right now, what do you want it to be, and why?” Next, you should also consider the financial aspect. Wouldn’t it be better if your guardians can afford what you want? Be realistic, be practical. Before you could decide where to attend class, think if you can pay all your needs – accommodation, tuition, and every financial factor. Explain to your parents the choice you chose if it’s your decision. Then, work or volunteer, gain some experience, do a research, challenge yourself for something which seem so impossible to be reachable by your bare hands. Talk to as many adults as you can, and think twice – change is the only constant thing on Earth.
