The Belgian-born superstar has been sadly absent from cinema screens and VHS cassette players
since his 1980s heyday but he has shown a triumphant return to form - in an advert for a range
of heavy goods vehicles.

Mr Van Damme took part in the stunt at a closed-off airfield. 
As two Volvo trucks reverse in parallel along the runway with the
53 year old balanced between them, they begin to separate, forcing him gradually
to part his legs until he is performing the splits.

In a feat of acting surpassed only by his physical prowess, he remains impassive throughout.

It is the first time in history that anyone has managed to do the splits between two moving vehicles.
