Multibit wallet, which you can get from www.multibit.org, is one of the best bitcoin wallets you can get. However, hackers have methods to get into your computer by various of ways and steal your stored *.wallet bitcoin wallet and thereby gain all your COINS.

To minimize the risk of this happening, it's very vice to store your wallet on a USB drive, only plugging it in when making transactions or accepting coins and then safely remove the USB drive again.

Here is how you run MultiBit wallet on a USB drive on a Windows based computer:

1. Insert your USB drive into your computer.
2. Run the MultiBit wallet Windows installer, and when the installation wizard asks you to "Select the installation path:" you should click the -browse- button and select a directory on your USB drive (simply create a folder named MultiBit or MultiBit wallet for example).
3. Just run the rest of the installation process as normal.
4. Once the installation is done, in Explorer navigate to your USB drive's MultiBit installation directory. It is the directory with the "multibit.exe" file.
5. Create a new text file called (exactly) "multibit.properties". Leave the file empty. This is the MultiBit configuration file. Having a copy in the installation directory (rather than the user's application data) tells MultiBit to run locally.
6. To run MultiBit locally, double click on the multibit.exe file.

Now you will have a single wallet created on your USB drive in MultiBit wallet. If you need to create more wallets, simply go to "File", and click "New wallet" to create a new one. Then you save it to the same USB directory as you did in step 2.
