  1. that God has given you and then trust the Lord to help you and to
  2. [129] raise up those who will be your helpers in carrying burdens.
  3. Let not the unkind speeches of men hurt you. Did not men
  4. say unkind things about Jesus? You err, and may sometimes give
  5. Value of Trial 129
  6. occasion for unkind remarks; but Jesus never did. He was pure,
  7. spotless, undefiled. Do not expect a better portion in this life than
  8. the Prince of glory had. When your enemies see that they can make
  9. you feel hurt, they will rejoice, and Satan will rejoice. Look to Jesus,
  10. and work with an eye single to His glory. Keep your heart in the
  11. love of God.
  12. Looking Away From Men
  13. It may be that even the members of the church to which you
  14. belong will say and do that which will grieve you. But move right
  15. on, calm and peaceful, ever trusting in Jesus, remembering that you
  16. are not your own, that you are Christ’s property, the purchase of
  17. the blood of God’s beloved Son, and that you are engaged in His
  18. work, seeking to bless humanity. This is a great work. Do not let
  19. the perversity of men move you from firm trust and abiding faith in
  20. the promises of God.
  21. It hurts you when one for whom you have done much becomes
  22. your enemy, having been brought under an influence opposed to you.
  23. But do you not do almost the same thing to Jesus when you turn away
  24. from Him? He has been your best friend. He has done everything
  25. He could to win your love. He has invited your confidence. He has
  26. asked you to come to Him with all your burdens and all your griefs,
  27. and has pledged His word to give you rest and peace if you will wear
  28. His yoke and bear His burdens. He declares that His yoke is easy
  29. and His burden is light. Show that you believe this. Take God at His
  30. word. You never could have stood where you now stand, bearing
  31. the responsibilities that you have borne, unless Jesus had given you
  32. special help. Acknowledge this. Praise God for the help that He has
  33. been to you, and trust Him still.
  34. Bring Christ into your life. Do not feel that you are answerable
  35. for the wrong course of others, even though they are in the church. [130]
  36. There are in the church unfaithful ones who treat Jesus far worse
  37. than they treat you. Were He on earth, they would insult Him, revile
  38. Him, defame Him. “It must needs be that offenses come; but woe to
  39. that man by whom the offense cometh.” “It were better for him that
  40. a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned
  41. in the depth of the sea.” Matthew 18:7, 6.
  42. 130 Testimonies for the Church Volume 8
  43. You are carrying a heavy load. I wish that everyone could feel
  44. this as I do. I wish that all your brethren would be true and faithful to
  45. you, not hindering you, not extolling or glorifying you, but looking
  46. upon you as one whom God is using as His instrument to do a given
  47. work, and remembering that they must not block the wheels, but
  48. must put their shoulder to the wheel, helping instead of hindering.
  49. An EternalWeight of Glory
  50. Again I say: Rejoice in the Lord. Rest in Him. You need His
  51. power, and this power you may have. Go forward firmly, valiantly,
  52. courageously. You may err in judgment, but do not lose your hold on
  53. Jesus. He is wisdom, He is light, He is power. He is to you as a great
  54. Rock in a weary land. Rest under His shadow. You need wisdom,
  55. and Jesus will give it to you. Do not be unbelieving. The more you
  56. are jostled, misapprehended, misstated, misrepresented, the more
  57. evidence you have that you are doing a work for the Master, and the
  58. more closely you must cling to your Saviour. In all your difficulties
  59. be calm and undisturbed, patient and forbearing, not rendering evil
  60. for evil, but good for evil. Look to the top of the ladder. God is above
  61. it. His glory shines on every soul ascending heavenward. Jesus is
  62. this ladder. Climb up by Him, cling to Him, and erelong you will
  63. step off the ladder into His everlasting kingdom.
  64. I [131] want you to have heaven. I know of no one who would appreciate
  65. heaven more than you, who have worked so untiringly to
  66. relieve suffering humanity, depriving yourself of sleep, neglecting
  67. to take food, bringing but little enjoyment into your life. At times
  68. there does not seem to be much sunshine in your path, only one long,
