Tutorial – How to Factory Reset an AirPort Extreme for initial setup.
NOTE: While the installation of Apples AirPort Extreme and AirPort Utility are pretty straight forward, it sometimes may be necessary to perform a factory reset in order to properly complete the initial setup.
Apple’s AirPort Extreme is an 802.11n Wireless router that is compatible with both Mac ad PC and provides 5x faster performance and 2x range of that provided by 802.11g devices.
Below, you will find a step-by-step guide to performing a factory reset of an Apple AirPort Extreme.
1) Unplug the ethernet and power from the AirPort Extreme.
2) Hold down the factory reset button and continue holding while you re-attach power.
3) Wait for the amber light to flash quickly.
4) Release the reset button.
If all goes well, AirPort Utility should now recognize your AirPort device and you can continue with installation and setup.
