More than 2500 households have been left without power in East Tirol after storms swept through the region. Workers from Tinetz are working around the clock to try and restore power. Roads in the region have also been closed due to falling trees. Houses in the Kartitsch/Obertilliach as well as Villgraten, Defereggental and Matrei are affected. Heavy snowfall and high winds have swept the area causing trees to fall onto power lines. Up to thirty cm of new snow has fallen in the region this morning. Trains are also suffering delays. Passengers and road users are being advised to check their route before travel.
