  1. thee as an heathen man and a publican.” And again the Saviour says:
  2. “If thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy
  3. brother hath aught against thee; leave there thy gift before the altar,
  4. and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come
  5. and offer thy gift.” Matthew 18:15-17; 5:23, 24.
  6. “Lord, who shall abide in Thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in
  7. Thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, [85]
  8. and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his
  9. tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbor, nor taketh up a reproach
  10. against his neighbor. In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but
  11. he honoreth them that fear the Lord. He that sweareth to his own
  12. hurt, and changeth not. He that putteth not out his money to usury,
  13. nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things
  14. shall never be moved.” Psalm 15.
  15. “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye
  16. judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall
  17. be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that
  18. is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine
  19. own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the
  20. mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
  21. Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and
  22. then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s
  23. eye.” Matthew 7:1-5.
  24. Much is involved in the matter of judging. Remember that soon
  25. your life record will pass in review before God. Remember, too,
  26. that He has said: “Thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou
  27. art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest
  28. thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. But we are
  29. sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them
  30. which commit such things. And thinkest thou this, O man, that
  31. judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou
  32. shalt escape the judgment of God?” Romans 2:1-3.

  34. Those who came to Battle Creek when they had a work to do
  35. in the church that they left, lost their missionary spirit and their [86]
  36. spiritual discernment in coming to Battle Creek. There they came

  38. in contact with a pharisaism, a self-righteousness, that is always a
  39. snare. It is the form of godliness without the power thereof.
  40. When the power of the truth is felt in the heart, when the principles
  41. of truth are brought into the daily life, there will be a great
  42. movement of reform in the Battle Creek church. Soon will be fulfilled
  43. the words: “I will turn and overturn.” We know not now just
  44. when this will be accomplished, but the time will come when there
  45. will be a scattering from Battle Creek. Those who moved to Battle
  46. Creek without any call from the Lord will move away.

  49. Earnest workers have no time to dwell upon the defects of others.
  50. They behold the Saviour, and by beholding become changed into
  51. His likeness. He is the One whose example we are to follow in our
  52. character building. In His life upon the earth He plainly revealed
  53. the divine nature. We should strive to be perfect in our sphere, as
  54. He was perfect in His sphere. No longer are the members of the
  55. church to remain unconcerned in regard to the formation of right
  56. characters. Placing themselves under the molding influence of the
  57. Holy Spirit, they are to form characters that are a reflection of the
