Empowering of Housewifes and Girls at Berbah Sleman to Process Domestic Trash by Simply and Environmental Friendly Technology for Getting Economic Values and Useful Things
Abstract
The housewifes and the girls that their many activities are in the kitchen produce trash everyday, especially organic trash. Their roles in managing their domestic trash will be useful for the environment. Therefore, a coursing of domestic trash processing by simply and environmental friendly technology for getting economic values and useful things is organized.
The methode of this activity is organizing a course for housewifes and girls who live at Pedukuhan Jogotirto, Krasakan Village, Sleman District to process their domestic trash. The technique to process organic trash to become compost is using 2 gentongs that composting process is in the gentongs. Anorganic trash will be sorted into paper, plastic and can ones, and then to be reused or to be given to the pemulungs (the ones who collect trash for selling to get money). Every month, during 3 months, the monitoring is held, and then after 3 months compost harvesting is held.
The result of counting of the average trash volume per day is 2,67 lt organic trash, 10,81 gr plastics, 4,03 gr papers, and 1,83 gr cans. The efectivity of the course is 100% by all course participants have processed their organic trash and have sorted their anorganic trash. But, it must be not 100% by only 2 course participants that can harvest their compost in the third month.
