ABOUT
My name is Andrew William McDonald, originally from Bolton - I moved to Manchester in 2013 and have fallen in love with the city I now refer to as my own.
I have been making photographs way back as far as I can remember. I studied traditional darkroom photography straight out of high-school, after a period of a few years working as a freelance music photographer, touring and traveling to and from Iceland a hell of a lot, I went back to University and studied for a BA Hons in photographic media graduating with a 2:1. For one reason or another, I stopped taking photographs, got an office job and my cameras collected dust for a long period of time.
In 2016 I re-visited my old love and started shooting again after buying a second-hand Fuji having borrowed one off a friend. The Fuji system took me back to shooting analog, the feel, the aesthetic; so I sold all my Canon gear, bought a Leica along with what I had left; I haven't gone a single day without shooting since.
My main passion lies in social documentary photography, traveling and meeting people with a story. I still shoot gigs now and then.
