Amoeba in brain, injured 10 people at PAKISTAN
According to the World Health Organization, the country Pakistan has ten people who died because of an "amoeba" that attacks the brain, Naegleriafowleri called. These cases occurred in the past few months.
The 'amoeba' is a kind of 'parasite'. They are also responsible for the more familiar diseases 'amoebiasis', which in turn affects the stomach, although other types exist.
Naegleriafowleri is getting the drinking of contaminated water. Because of this, the present is ensuring that the authorities in Pakistan to clean drinking water to residents in the city where the case is recorded, in Karachi.
Rarely affect the amoeba in the brain or the nervous system of people, but if it happens, deadly and difficult to treat. The symptoms are fever, vomiting, dizziness, stiff neck, and headache. Many victims die 5-7 days after the symptoms felt.
In the Philippines, cases like this are rare. But we should still be careful in drinking water, not only because the amoeba can get it, as other diseases.
