Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency, introduced by pseudonymous developer "Satoshi Nakamoto" in 2009. It is the most well known and most successful cryptocurrency, and the one that is most common. Currently, Bitcoin has advanced to the point where you need an ASIC in order to mine it, but you can still use an ATI graphics card to mine small amounts.
