  6. -----------------
  7. For most of you out there, money is hard to come by. Until now:
  8. With the recent advent of plastic money (credit cards), it is
  9. easy to use someone else's credit card to order the items you have
  10. always desired in life. The stakes are high, but the payoff is
  11. worth it.
  12. Step One: Getting the credit card information
  13. First off, you must obtain the crucial item: someone's credit
  14. card number. The best way to get credit card numbers is to take
  15. the blue carbons used in a credit card transaction at your local
  16. department store. These can usually be found in the garbage can
  17. next to the register, or for the more daring, in the garbage
  18. dumpster behind the store. But, due to the large amount of credit
  19. card fraud, many stores have opted to use a carbonless transaction
  20. sheet, making things much more difficult. This is where your
  21. phone comes in handy.
  22. First, look up someone in the phone book, and obtain as much
  23. information as possible about them. Then, during business hours,
  24. call in a very convincing voice - "Hello, this is John Doe from
  25. the Visa Credit Card Fraud Investigations Department. We have
  26. been informed that your credit card may have been used for
  27. fraudulent purposes, so will you please read off the numbers
  28. appearing on your Visa card for verification." Of course, use
  29. your imagination! Believe it or not, many people will fall for
  30. this ploy and give out their credit information.
  31. Now, assuming that you have your victim's credit card number, you
  32. should be able to decipher the information given.
  33. Step Two: Recognizing information from carbon copies
  34. Card examples:
  35. [American Express]
  36. XXXX XXXXXX XXXXX
  37. MM/Y1 THRU MM/Y2
  38. JOE SHMOE
  39. [American Express]
  40. XXXX XXXXXX XXXXX
  41. MM/Y1 THRU MM/Y2
  42. JOE SHMOE
  43. Explanation:
  44. MM/Y1 is the date the card was issued, and MM/Y2 is the
  45. expiration date. The American Express Gold Card has numbers
  46. XXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX, and is covered for up to $5000.00,
  47. even if the card holder is broke.
  48. [Mastercard]
  49. 5XXX XXXX XXXX XXXX
  50. XXXX AAA DD-MM-YY MM/YY
  51. JOE SHMOE
  52. Explanation:
  53. XXXX in the second row may be asked for during the ordering
  54. process. The first date is when the card was new, and the
  55. second is when the card expires. The most frequent number
  56. combination used is 5424 1800 XXXX XXXX. There are many of
  57. these cards in circulation, but many of these are on wanted
  58. lists, so check these first.
  59. [Visa]
  60. 4XXX XXX(X) XXX(X) XXX(X)
  61. MM/YY MM/YY*VISA
  62. JOE SHMOE
  63. Explanation:
  64. Visa is the most abundant card, and is accepted almost
  65. everywhere. The "*VISA" is sometimes replaced with "BWG", or
  66. followed with a special code. These codes are as follows:
  67. [1] MM/YY*VISA V - Preferred Card
  68. [2] MM/YY*VISA CV - Classic Card
  69. [3] MM/YY*VISA PV - Premier Card
  70. Preferred Cards are backed with money, and are much safer to
  71. use. Classic Cards are newer, harder to reproduce cards with
  72. decent backing. Premier Cards are Classic Cards with Preferred
  73. coverage. Common numbers are 4448 020 XXX XXX, 4254 5123 6000
  74. XXXX, and 4254 5123 8500 XXXX. Any 4712 1250 XXXX XXXX cards
  75. are IBM Credit Union cards, and are risky to use, although
  76. they are usually covered for large purchases.
  77. Step Three: Testing credit
  78. You should now have a Visa, Mastercard, or American Express
  79. credit card number, with the victim's address, zip code, and phone
  80. number. By the way, if you have problems getting the address,
  81. most phone companies offer the Address Tracking Service, which is
  82. a special number you call that will give you an address from a
  83. phone number, at a nominal charge. Now you need to check the
  84. balance of credit on the credit card (to make sure you don't run
  85. out of money), and you must also make sure that the card isn't
  86. stolen. To do this you must obtain a phone number that
  87. businesses use to check out credit cards during purchases. If you
  88. go to a department store, watch the cashier when someone makes a
  89. credit card purchase. He/she will usually call a phone number,
  90. give the credit information, and then give what is called a
  91. "Merchant Number". These numbers are usually written down on or
  92. around the register. It is easy to either find these numbers and
  93. copy them, or to wait until they call one in. Watch what they
  94. dial and wait for the 8 digit (usually) merchant number. Once you
  95. call the number, in a calm voice, read off the account number,
  96. merchant number, amount, and expiration date. The credit bureau
  97. will tell you if it is ok, and will give you an authorization
  98. number. Pretend you are writing this number down, and repeat it
  99. back to them to check it. Ignore this number completely, for it
  100. serves no real purpose. However, once you do this, the bank
  101. removes dollars equal to what you told them, because the card was
  102. supposedly used to make a purchase. Sometimes you can trick the
  103. operator by telling her the customer changed his mind and decided
  104. not to charge it. Of course, some will not allow this. Remember
  105. at all times that you are supposed to be a store clerk calling to
  106. check out the card for a purchase. Act like you are talking with
  107. a customer when he/she "cancels".
  108. Step Four: The drop
  109. Once the cards are cleared, you must find a place to have the
  110. package sent. NEVER use a drop more than once. The following are
  111. typical drop sites:
  112. [1] An empty house
  113. An empty house makes an excellent place to send things. Send the
  114. package UPS, and leave a note on the door saying, "UPS. I work
  115. days, 8 to 6. Could you please leave the package on the back door
  116. step?" You can find dozens of houses from a real estate agent by
  117. telling them you want to look around for a house. Ask for a list
  118. of twenty houses for sale, and tell them you will check out the
  119. area. Do so, until you find one that suits your needs.
  120. [2] Rent A Spot
  121. U-Haul sometimes rents spaces where you can have packages sent and
  122. signed for. End your space when the package arrives.
  123. [3] People's houses
  124. Find someone you do not know, and have the package sent there.
  125. Call ahead saying that "I called the store and they sent the
  126. package to the wrong address. It was already sent, but can you
  127. keep it there for me?" This is a very reliable way if you keep
  128. calm when talking to the people.
  129. Do NOT try post office boxes. Most of the time, UPS will not
  130. deliver to a post office box, and many people have been caught in
  131. the past attempting to use a post office box. Also, when you have
  132. determined a drop site, keep an eye on it for suspicious
  133. characters and cars that have not been there before.
  134. Step Five: Making the transaction
  135. You should now have a reliable credit card number with all the
  136. necessary billing information, and a good drop site.
  137. The best place to order from is catalogues, and mail order houses.
  138. It is in your best interest to place the phone call from a pay
  139. phone, especially if it is a 1-800 number. Now, when you call,
  140. don't try to disguise your voice, thinking you will trick the
  141. salesperson into believing you are an adult. These folks are
  142. trained to detect this, so your best bet is to order in your own
  143. voice. They will ask for the following: name, name as it appears
  144. on card, phone number, billing address, expiration date, method of
  145. shipping, and product. Ask if they offer UPS Red shipping (next
  146. day arrival), because it gives them less time to research an
  147. order. If you are using American Express, you might have a bit of
  148. a problem shipping to an address other than the billing address.
  149. Also, if the salesperson starts to ask questions, do NOT hang up.
  150. Simply talk your way out of the situation, so you won't encourage
  151. investigation on the order.
  152. If everything goes right, you should have the product, free of
  153. charge. Insurance picks up the tab, and no one is any wiser. Be
  154. careful, and try not to order anything over $500. In some states,
  155. UPS requires a signature for anything over $200, not to mention
  156. that anything over $200 is defined as grand theft, as well as
  157. credit fraud. Get caught doing this,
