What to use for a paid personality test?
Can someone point me in the right direction. How can I accomplish the following:
1. People take a personality test

2. When they arrive to "get results button", they are redirected to payment options
3. They complete the payment and then get their test results, either in the browser or by email (or both)
Alternatively, they can
1. pay first
2. complete the test and get their results, but the test page is available only for a short period of time, like 24 hours.
What could I use for this?
Thanks in advance!
I don't think that is a webmaster issue so much. That is a more of a psychology issue.
Register first for limited access, then pay, change access control to do the test, after a time period (24 hrs is too short, maybe a week), change access control to no access.
Doing the test, then finding out you need to pay to see the results will make people angry

Why would you even consider an approach that will make people leave your site in disgust, never to return?

True, if one gives the user the impression that the test is free. But, if you make it clear that the results are not free, then making the test portion available for free may be a good approach. It gives the user a preview into what they are paying for.
I think a better approach would be to make the test completely free (test and result) but provide only a basic result. Then offer the user a more detailed results and report for a fee.
"I think a better approach would be to make the test completely free (test and result) but provide only a basic result. Then offer the user a more detailed results and report for a fee."
That would be a good alternative. It is the interpretation of the results that is important, and not the actual test, right?
Is this a standard personality test, such as Myers-Briggs, or did you create this yourself?
Beware "personality tests" ... consider the recent "Cambridge Analysis" misuse of personality tests and the negative backlash that ensued.
Bad enough securing payment information, consider the larger exposure of "personality testing" and the ADDITIONAL PII (personally identifiable information) that creates! Nightmare of security/protect of data and server resources.
Just something to consider.
Meanwhile, don't wait until the end to say the results cost money. Tell 'em up front.
Otherwise you will never receive any money, and might end up with investigators (local, state, national) taking a look at your business practices.
Sadly, you will have collected the test info before revealing costs and would remain responsible for that data collected. And no money.
Thanks for your input. I am sorry everyone assumed I was going to make people angry by not warning them about the payment. I never said that. There could be a huge warning before they take the test. My question was a technical question though.

Also I run a popular psychology website and have been doing free tests for more than 6 years, so no worries. I will try to figure this out on my own. Thanks.
@ubound ... Best wishes! The scenario replies were based on info contained in the OP, so don't take it the wrong way. Having said that, do use all caution as the medical field (psychology falls into that venue) has a whole different set of considerations (legalities) that should be addressed. Sounds like you have that in hand.
Just a heads up as the AMA (and psychcoligists in particular) are rather particular about who practices in their field. Some niches have more exposure than others.
