  2. Wow, some of the most interesting and flavorful food in the East Bay can be found HERE. I've been here twice, and while I don't remember what we had the first time the second time we got these dishes (for four people, and we were all absolutely stuffed, with leftovers!!)
  3. appetizers:
  4. -alu tikki: spiced potato + bread crumb patties, served with garbanazo beans in a sweet-sour-spicy sauce *4.5 stars*
  5. -papadam: crispy lentil crackers/wafers/chips, whatever you want to call them, these weren't greasy at all and had a really nice lentil flavor and looked very similar to tortilla chips. these were served with mint-cilantro sauce *5 stars with the sauce*
  6. entrees:
  7. -eggplant thing (i forget the name!)- yummy yummy! it was tender eggplant cooked in delicious sauce, and there were definitely fennel seeds in the sauce *4 stars*
  8. -saag paneer: classic and always delicious!! (for those of you who don't know, it's creamy spinach cooked with paneer cheese) one of the best I've had. I probably could've eaten just this for our entire dinner, but that wouldn't have let anyone else try some. Sighhh. *5 stars*
  9. -potato balls in tomato-y sauce (again, i forget the name): this was under their "new this month" category, and I'm so glad we tried it. It was perfectly seasoned, the tomato flavor wasn't too strong but just right, and the potato balls were tasty as well. *4.5 stars*
  10. sides:
  11. raita - spiced yogurt with cucumbers, this was a a very nice accompaniment to all our other uber-flavorful dishes
  12. basmati rice - we ordered ours brown, you can get brown or white here. It had so much flavor! DELICIOUS. It was also topped with bits of cinnamon stick things.... and of course some butter *5+ stars*
  13. naan- indian flat bread, Ajanta makes their own and it was warm an djust about as yummy as fresh baked bread can get. *5+ stars*
  14. trio of chutneys - mango chutney, pickled carrot, and another one I didn't try *4 stars*
  15. I also ordered a mango lassi, which was like ripe, fresh mango in liquid form. MMM!
  16. If you order the entrees as dinners, you recieve 1/2 naan bread (this is plenty, their naan is very large), 3 little balls of basmati rice, side of chickpeas in sauce, and the trio of chutneys. If you order a la carte, you still get the basmati rice (score!)
