Another reason the company likely removed the ticker is that many people are no longer browsing the site on a desktop computer. But it has problems too, after 5 minutes, the reply text box becomes white, no text, but it's still recording my message, so when i push enter, it's sent. It showed a list of my chat friends and indicated who was online and I used it all the time.
