  1. how to archive IMAP email?
  2. We acquired a client with 2 mailboxes containing 10GB and 12GB emails each. Email archiving wasn't enabled on his account on the other server. Since he uses IMAP and has various folders in his mailbox, Outlook 365 doesn't archive all the folders automatically.

  14. Does anyone know how to manually archive all the folders as well?
  15. We're using Thunderbird on our workstations and once downloaded (using IMAP), We can easily save them (Right click -> Save As...) as .eml files (including attachments) and later import in any other mail client.
  16. What mail client are you using? In Outlook, you can export or backup email and folders, contacts and calendars. IMAP is supported. We recently did this for a client who needed to migrate mail between Thunderbird and Outlook and from old host to new host. We also do this frequently for companies who want to archive mail for employee accounts that may have left the company, but the company still wants to keep a record of all emails sent and received to that person.

  18. You can use imapsync to move all the email accounts to move to another server.

  22. imapsync is a good option, but I feel it's expensive for that it is. I guess if you were migrating many mailboxes, it would be useful - but it also depends on what service you are migrating email to since most offer a free migration tool on their backend (like O365 or G-Suite).

  24. I think, imapsync is better option to migrate all the email ids from one server to another server, we have migrated almost 100 email ids using imapsync method.
  25. as you have only 2 mailboxes to be archived to another server then imapsync is helpful for you.
  26. 1. first way is to sync the folders using imapsync method
  27. 2. second you can do it manually, go to the webmail and download the folder manually which have not synced, and then upload that folder to outlook.
  28. I don't want to move emails between servers. This is easy and has been done already. The client wants to download an archive of his current emails for 'archival purposes'. if If he ever needs to access an email conversation between himself and another person, of say 7 years ago, he need to quickly access it. The reason for downloading the archive is that his account is getting to big. It's currently at 34GB. cPanel has an email archive option but it only works for new emails that are sent / received, from the day the feature is enabled. But it was never enabled on the previous server.
  29. The client uses Office 365 and there's no option to download the mails to his PC, in on go. There are simply too many mails to save them on-by-one.
