  13. Switch Datacenters, which has headquarters in Amsterdam, Netherlands, offers a range of data center services to ISP's, telecommunication companies and cloud providers. The company offers around 26,000 square foot of data center space through a number of facilities located in the Amsterdam area. Its Amsterdam-based AMS1 was sold to data center services provider Equinix.

Established in 1998 the company underpins its customers’ businesses with IT and cloud strategies offered through a globally connected platform. Its services include cloud options, colocation, and data security options. The company was in the news at the beginning of this year for setting up a facility in Seoul, the South Korean capital. Equinix’s latest acquisition underscores the company’s focus on colocation and customers with hyperscale requirements. A cash deal, it is reported to have cost €30 million ($33.5 million).
