[Rest In Peace] Tonderai Jaya
I can always unfold the scrolls of history,
Give me time to ink on paper his story,
Swift, perculiar and effective in his career,
A man of unwavering certainity,
It was late October I remember,
The cold nights he woke up for us,
In the absence of electricity he fought,
Fighting for us, us and only us,
Us whom he didnt knew,
Us whom he was not related to,
Such was his love for us
I can always unveil the curtains of the past,
From then until he became dust,
Gone into oblivion, gone so fast,
He could tell us to sit down,
Yet we could run around in corridors,
He told us to type our projects,
Yet we could type letters for girls,
He told us to study,
Yet we remained lazy,
In our ignorance of goodwill,
In our reluctance of a goodness,
Reculcitrant and ever stubborn,
Yet he came with a smile everyday,
It was late November I remember,
Marking the register and making a laughter,
The nature of difference did exist,
Such was the student-teacher parallelism,
Yet in him it we all had the sense of hedonism,
The memories that shall fly over our heads,
The memories we shall keep in our hearts,
The memories we shall cherish in our minds
Looking back, looking at him,
Searching there, searching for him,
Finding none, our abilities are slim
Fate, fatal it does hurt,
The days of fun,
The days of tears,
Remember him remember him always,
Chikosha and the fire extinguisher,
Julia and the noise in class,
Garikai refusing to be beaten,
Necho and the tea saga,
Proud and the computer drama,
The memories are too many,
Yet his days too little,
So shall it be our mentality,
We had a great teacher,
A great brother,
A great mentor
So shall our hearts mourn you,
Our words of praise follow you,
So shall our empathies flow,
Our deepest sympathies extent,
To the family you left,
The fiance longed to abide with,
The friends you lived with,
Rest in Peace Tonderai our friend,
Rest in Peace Mr. Jaya our teacher,
Rest in Peace Mr. Jaya, the family man
And so shall accept the slaughter of our hearts,
Like a sharp arrow piercing through,
Missing the days we never shall spend,
Missing the smile you never shall make,
Missing the wedding we never shall see,
Rest In eternal peace.
