DNS and Mail Server Help!
I was wondering if anyone could help me. Our web developer is off on paternity leave and i have been left trying to resolve issues that i am really struggling with. I have numerous websites hosted on an LCN cloud server.

LCN did an update and the websites went offline. (only the ones who have their domain name with a different registrar ) i instructed them to update their DNS settings and A records to ours and the websites have reactivated, however they are now having problems with their emails. We dont host their emails the domain registrar does. So looking at who.is the only one that is working correctly is using our name servers and all dns settings are us and A records are our IP but his mail servers dont relate to us which makes sense. One of the others doesnt have us as their name server and the only refernce to us is the A Record/IP. Apologies if this doesnt make sense but i am not a developer and LCN have been no help. ANy advise is very much appreciated. TIA
It sounds like the MX record in the DNS records was lost in some manner, either in changing nameservers or the nameservers just "forgot" them during that update. You would need to verify what the MX records should be, check if the domains are returning the MX record on a nslookup or via mxtoolbox.com, and if not enter the records at the naemservers. Post back if you have questions on any of that.

Mx records
Thanks for your reply. How do I know what the mx records should be ? Is this down to us to provide or the domain company who host the emails ? Surely they should set the Mx records if they host the domain and name servers and A records point to us ? Apologies again I am a complete novice with this
The mail provider would have to provide the MX records.
Domains use DNS (domain name server), or nameservers for short, as a directory lookup type service. It is used to tell computers where services are for a domain. The nameserver can be either at your servers, at the registrar, a dns only provider, or any other provider. So, the question is which nameservers are domains using that are having mail issues? You can check that via intodns.com and look at "Domain NS records" . The MX records would need to be checked and entered at those nameservers .
You mentioned only having them change A records, but is it possible they changed nameservers to you also?
