  18. @1 - Helpful Links
  19. - XDA Developers
  20. Provides instructions on rooting your device as well as a ton of customization forums and downloads.
  21. - Scrotter
  22. Used for taking those screenshots with the phone border. You can upload your own image or it can take screenshots via ADB USB or Wireless.

  24. Rooting is not essential to ricing but it provides a lot more options to ricing your device, such as:
  25. - Custom coloring of the nav bar and status bar
  26. - Hiding of the nav bar and status bar
  27. - Changing the size of the UI
  28. - Custom LED coloring for notifications
  29. - Probably more that I forgot to list
  30. XDA Developers has a board for every individual device and instructions on how to achieve root.
  31. @2a - ROMs
  32. ROMs are custom software that you flash to your phone after rooting. Each ROM has it's own advantages and disadvantages, so be sure to research your ROM before flashing.

  35. A good entry-level ROM for those new to rooting. Updates often on the latest Android version with some customization features.

  37. Best for customizing the size and colors of the UI. Also has the feature to use an alternative to the nav bar called Pie.
  38. - AOKP
  39. Like CyanogenMod with more features.
  40. - MIUI
  41. A sweet mixture of iOS and Android.
