  17. [ANDROID]
  18. @1 - Helpful Links
  19. - XDA Developers
  20. http://www.xda-developers.com/
  21. Provides instructions on rooting your device as well as a ton of customization forums and downloads.
  22. - Scrotter
  23. https://github.com/Yttrium-tYcLief/Scrotter
  24. Used for taking those screenshots with the phone border. You can upload your own image or it can take screenshots via ADB USB or Wireless.
  25. @2 Rooting
  26. Rooting is not essential to ricing but it provides a lot more options to ricing your device, such as:
  27. - Custom coloring of the nav bar and status bar
  28. - Hiding of the nav bar and status bar
  29. - Changing the size of the UI
  30. - Custom LED coloring for notifications
  31. - Probably more that I forgot to list
  32. XDA Developers has a board for every individual device and instructions on how to achieve root.
  33. @2a - ROMs
  34. ROMs are custom software that you flash to your phone after rooting. Each ROM has it's own advantages and disadvantages, so be sure to research your ROM before flashing.
  35. POPULAR
