  1. n the process of buying a new house and had to have the roof replaced. When they pulled the shingles up the under board was chip board and it cost me an additional three grand. How difficult is it to replace a roof?
  2. mmm It will take quite a bit of time you have to work quickly in the summer b/c of how the glue works thats for the shingles anyways... For underneath mine are 2 slabs of wood every 16''-18'' it looks like wooden tiles under my shingles glued together and then nailed so it depends how you do it there's different ways of setting up a roof I'd get a pro to do it.
  3. Edit_-- Also you say under all the shingles was chip board?? This must be an older house? Mine had chipboard and i believe still does we never had to get it replaced for the past 20+yrs we have lived here.
  4. It's not that difficult to replace a roof, depending on the style of roof you have. I replace mine in 2004 because of hurricane damage and I also had that OSB chip board underneath. My dad and I were tearing full sheets up by hand after the shingles were removed. Everything was replaced with full sheets of plywood and then a layer of peel and stick (which is a semi-permanent roof covering) and then followed by a metal roof. All in all its not difficult if you have some knowledge of carpentry skills and time.
