  1. What is the difference between http and https ?
  2. Many of you may be aware of this difference, but it is
  3. worth sharing for any that are not.....
  4. The main difference between http:// and https:// is all
  5. about keeping you secure
  6. HTTP stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol
  7. The S (big surprise) stands for "Secure".. If you visit a
  8. Website or web page, and look at the address in the web browser, it is likely begin with the following: http:///.
  9. This means that the website is talking to your browser using
  10. the regular unsecured language. In other words, it is possible for someone to "eavesdrop" on your computer's conversation with the Website. If you fill out a form on the website, someone might see the information you send to that site.
  11. This is why you never ever enter your credit card number in an
  12. Http website! But if the web address begins with https://, that
  13. means your computer is talking to the website in a
  14. Secure code that no one can eavesdrop on.
  15. You understand why this is so important, right?
  16. If a website ever asks you to enter your Credit/Debit card
  17. Information, you should automatically look to see if the web
  18. address begins with https://.
  19. If it doesn't, You should NEVER enter sensitive
  20. Information....such as a credit/debit card number.
