  1. While we were expecting the scooter to be priced competitively, Piaggio’s decision to launch the Aprilia SR150 at this price point comes as a pleasant surprise. The SR150 is being built at Piaggio’s facility in Baramati, alongside the Vespa line-up which might have helped Piaggio price the scooter so competitively. The production of the first batch of SR150 has already commenced, and the launch is slated to take place in the next month.
  2. Terming it as a ‘sport-scooterbike’, Aprilia is marketing the SR 150 as a scooter meant for young riders who wish to experience superbike-like sensation on a scooter. The sharp cut body lines, sporty riding position, beaky front end and the blacked-out 14-inch alloy wheels accentuate its sporty character. While the Aprilia SR series is available with a slew of engine options globally, stretching from 50cc to 300cc, it’s the 150cc model which will end up on our shores. This 150cc four-stroke single-cylinder mill has been borrowed from Vespa, and is mated to an automatic transmission.
  3. Speaking about Aprilia’s entry into the scooter segment, Roberto Colaninno, chairman and CEO, Piaggio Group said, “After the success of the Ape and the positioning of the Vespa in the premium segment of the Indian market, we are further strengthening our offer in the subcontinent with the entry on to the Indian market of the Aprilia SR 150 scooter. This vehicle is an excellent expression of the Noale manufacturer’s sport expertise and offers technological and style features superior to those of its direct competitors in its segment
