  1. DAEMON Tools Lite is a slimmed down version of the more powerful Pro app, but it still gives you the ability to add up to four virtual drives to your machine. You can also create basic disk images and compress them to keep all the information you need accessible without taking up a ton of space on your hard drive.
  2. Pros
  3. Free option: If you want to use this program for commercial purposes or if you want guaranteed technical support, you'll have to purchase a license for $19.99. But if you only need it for personal use, you can use it without limits, although without support, for free.
  4. Straightforward interface: There's nothing fancy about the interface of this app, but it makes all features clearly accessible. That means that even beginning users will get the hang of basic operations pretty quickly.
  5. Customizable hot keys: To further streamline the user experience in this app, you can customize hot keys to carry out certain functions. These settings are accessible under the Preferences tab.
  6. Cons
  7. Ad bar: When you first open the app, the column on the right-hand side contains a message letting you know that if you don't opt out within three minutes, the app will automatically start accepting ads. Of course, it's nice that you can opt out. But if you don't notice the bar right away, you may find yourself suddenly bombarded with ads.
  8. Bottom Line
  9. With lots of features and a functional interface, DAEMON is a good choice for beginning users or those who don't need more than a few virtual drives.
  10. Publisher's Description
  11. From Disc Soft:
  12. DAEMON Tools Lite is a virtual DVD-ROM emulator based on a SCSI miniport driver. It emulates max. 4 DVD-ROM drives and works with CD/DVD images created by many burning programs. It is great on notebooks without a physical CD-/DVD-ROM drive or to save akku power and speed up CD/DVD access. In opposite to other CD-/DVD-ROM emulators DAEMON Tools Lite doesn't use a proprietary container format. The advantage is that you can burn the images you're using with DAEMON Tools Lite right away or just test an image before burning it to see if it was created correctly.
  13. DAEMON Tools Lite works with most image formats. Moreover it has a special feature to make physical (burned) backups of your CD / DVD images when it is possible. It supports Alcohol 120%-Images (MDS-Files) and RMPS-Media. It's also great if you want save Power on your Notebook.
  14. What's new in this version:
  15. SPTD 1.86.
  16. Bugs fixed:
  17. BSOD in DT adapter with Verifier;
  18. Minor fixes.
