  3. thought for many centuries at least since the time of king john of
  4. England.
  5. The political and religious tradition in order parts of
  6. the word also proclaimed what have come to be called human rights
  7. calling on rules to rule justly and compassionately and delineating
  8. limits on their citizens.
  9. In the eighteenth and nineteenth
  10. centuries in Europe several philosophers proposed the concept of rights
  11. belonging to person by natural and because ha was a human being not by
  12. virtue of his citizenship in a particular religion or race or ethnic
  13. group.
  14. In the late 1700, two revolutions occurred which drew
  15. heavily on this concept in 1776, most of the British colonies in North
  16. America proclaimed their independence from the British Empire in
  17. document, which still stirs feeling and debate.
